6 Tips To Get Your Comments To Stand Out
One way you can get traffic to your site is by leaving comments on other blogs or websites. But just saying something like "Hi cool site" or spamming your websites link won't work. If you want your comment to stand out and get people over to your site you need to know how to leave a good comment.
1. Actually read their post
I'm always surprised by some of the comments left on websites where somebody obviously didn't read a thing that was posted. Spend a little time and actually read what the post is about. Sure it will take up some time you could use for other things, but if you're genuinely interested in gaining more traffic it's a worthwhile investment.
2. Address them by name
There's no harm in using the bloggers or website owners name in your comment. And like actually reading their content it shows that you paid at least a little attention to what they've said.
3. Don't spam
I've gotten comments that were nothing more then a blatant advertisement for another website. They made no mention of my content, asked a question or pointed out any possible errors in the information I presented, or added anything to the post. If you think comments like this will get your site noticed, think again. If you leave a bad taste in their mouths they'll remember you but not for the right reasons, and they definitely won't be visiting your site.
4. Ask a question or provide an answer
One way to get noticed is to ask a question. Not only will the sites owner probably try to answer it for you, but so could other visitors to their site.
If the site owner asks a question come up with the best answer you can. Doing so will make you look like an expert and get others to pay attention to you, especially if you're a regular commenter on that site.
5. Comment length
Look at the length of the comments on that post before you submit yours. If there posts are long and drawn out, then submit a short one. If the opposite is going on submit a longer one to stand out. Remember that if you submit a longer post to break it up so that the text is easier to read and doesn't look like a block of letters.
6. Use humour
Want your post to stand out give them something that will make them laugh or at the very least make them smirk. People respond positively to humour. However be careful when doing this so you don't offend the sites owner and try to keep it in good taste and appropriate for the site you're commenting on.
